Grace is a small word, just five letters. Simple enough. But those five letters have amassed a significant amount of meaning over the years. And some very different meanings, too:

 Smooth and practiced like a ballerina or a beauty queen: “Never before had I seen such grace on a stage.”

Poise in tough situations: “He managed the funeral with such grace.”

  Grace can also be about favor and mercy: “I must stay in her good graces.”

But Webster’s first definition is the one that weighs heavily on my mind as I write this:

Unmerited divine assistance is given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification.
A virtue coming from God
   A state of sanctification enjoyed through divine assistance.

Grace is the goodness that is all about us in the universe,
​just waiting for us to appreciate and share it.
